As your empire expands, consider making additional recruitment provinces. For example a blacksmith and bronze workshop is a good starting pair as you get access to good infantry with stats and weapon and armour upgrades. Build the different red buildings in order to unlock the better troops, and make sure to build them in the same province so the bonuses stack up. At the start of the game aim to turn one province into your recruitment province. There are 3 colours of buildings that you want to concentrate on to start with.
